Contracts

What a Contract is and what it is for

Updated 10 October 2026 y. • v1.0.0

A Contract for legal services is a mandatory condition for providing legal assistance by lawyers and legal consultants, as established by the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Pravoved.kz lets you do more than keep an electronic register of Contracts: you can use a Contract as a full-fledged working and accounting tool.

The role of a Contract in the system

In the system a Contract does the following:

  • stores information about the Customer and (or) the person to whom legal assistance is provided;
  • stores the Contract amount and serves as the basis for calculating taxes and generating reports;
  • links to the Case and the Customer — every Contract must be attached to a Case, which keeps the work in the right context;
  • lets lawyers and legal consultants generate Notices of protection (representation), with the Customer and Contract data filled in automatically;
  • lets you generate the Contract itself — the system can automatically produce the Contract text as a PDF from templates created by lawyers and legal consultants ("Extended" and "PRO" plans);
  • keeps track of tax payments — you can mark the Contracts for which taxes have already been paid.

The main Contract fields

A Contract has several key fields needed for financial and document accounting.

  1. Contract number
    Format: [Day]-[Month]/[Year] (for example, 10-01/26). If several Contracts are created on the same day, a serial suffix is added to the number (10-01/26-1).
    Purpose: a unique registration code for easy search and keeping things in order.
  2. Date of conclusion
    Purpose: the official date the parties signed the Contract. Used for meeting deadlines and for reporting.
  3. Payment type
    Available options: One-time, Monthly, By work.
    Purpose: determines the total Contract amount and is used for calculating taxes and generating reports.
  4. Contract amount
    Purpose: used for calculating taxes and generating reports.
  5. Status
    Purpose: reflects the current state of the Contract: Created, In progress, Completed or Canceled. A separate "Tax paid" mark is kept.
  6. Case number
    Purpose: the mandatory link to an existing Case.
  7. Customers
    Purpose: the customers the Contract is concluded with. The field is optional, but the data you enter is used, among other things, to generate the Contract and Notices of protection (representation).
  8. To assist third parties
    Purpose: filled in only when legal assistance is provided to someone who is not a party to the Contract. The data is used when generating Notices of protection (representation).
  9. Contract template and Description of services provided
    Purpose: let you choose the template from which the system automatically generates the Contract text, fills it in with data and saves it as a PDF. Available on the "Extended" and "PRO" plans once you have created at least one template.
