Assignments

Assistance under SGLA: what Assignments are

Updated 10 October 2026 y. • v1.3.0

State-guaranteed legal aid (SGLA) is provided not under a Contract with a Customer, but on the basis of a decision of an authority — an Assignment. The "Assignments" section helps you keep records of such assistance. An Assignment is issued by an authority or a bar association, not by the lawyer; in the system you record the Assignment you have received.

Assistance under SGLA is provided by lawyers and legal consultants.

Types of Assignments

  • Investigator's order (of a criminal prosecution body);
  • Court ruling/decision;
  • Bar association assignment.

How an Assignment is linked to other sections

  • An Assignment is created within a Case and can be linked to one or several Customers;
  • a lawyer prepares a Notice of protection of the "SGLA" type for the Assignment. It is attached to the Assignment, not to a Contract (see the article "Notice of protection under an Assignment (SGLA)");
  • a legal consultant does not prepare Notices: they enter the case on the basis of the Assignment. For them the Assignment in the system is the basis and a record of the assistance provided.

The Assignment register

The "Assignments" section is in the left menu. For each Assignment the list shows the number, Case, Customers, type and description. You can sort the list, filter it by Assignment type and search by number or description text.

Who can use it:
The Assignment register is kept by lawyers and legal consultants — account owners. The section is available on all plans, including "Basic".
